Cape Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is a country in Africa. Here are some interesting facts about Cape Verde:

  • The national flag of Cape Verde was adopted on September 22, 1992. The national flag of the Republic of Cape Verde consists of five unequal horizontal stripes of blue, white and red with a circle of ten yellow five-pointed stars pointing upwards. The topmost blue stripe is half the height of the flag. Each of the three stripes of white and red is one twelfth of the height, and the bottom blue stripe is one quarter.
     
  • The national emblem of Cape Verde was adopted in 1992. The coat of arms of Cape Verde features a circle with the name of the nation written in Portuguese. Inside the circle is a torch and a triangle, symbols of freedom and national unity. At the top of the shield is a plumbob, a symbol of righteousness; three chain links below. This emblem replaces an earlier seashell design that has been in use since independence.
