Said Akhmad Khoja Madrasah in Margilan

Said Akhmad Khoja Madrasah, Margilan

Madrasah Said Akhmad-Khoja is located in the historical center of the city of Margilan, located in the Fergana region. This is a functioning spiritual educational institution, which was founded at the end of the 19th century. The madrasah was built in an architectural style unusual for Central Asia, incorporating the world experience of building premises for gathering a large number of people.

So, unlike traditional madrasah buildings, the ceiling of the main hall of the madrasah rests not on columns, but on vaulted arched floors, which made it possible to visually expand the internal space. The ceilings of the premises of the madrasah are decorated with ornaments made with the use of plant motifs. During the construction of the madrasah, the best masters of the Fergana Valley worked on the decoration of its premises.

Behind the main room, there is an inner courtyard, on the sides of which there were built khuzhdras - dormitories for students studying in the madrasah. The courtyard is planted with perennial trees, the shade of the foliage of which helps escape from the scorching summer heat. Madrasah Said Akhmad-Khoja is one of the main tourist attractions of the city.
